I'm always a little apprehensive to try any kind of food that is somewhat associated with a gas station. Once I turned the corner of Pleasant Run and Hampton and saw the exterior of my destination, I chose to give Marylin's a chance.

The small restaurant has a modern Italian theme, complete with grape vineyard bordering and decorative wine bottles. My first strike has to be the seating, limited and my chair was located too close to a trash can. The menu fit the restaurant, small and easy to navigate. They had a wide range of sandwiches, salads and hot meals. Giving into a two day old craving, I chose a tuna sandwich on sourdough panini with cheddar cheese. My lunch date had a box lunch that consisted of a corned beef sandwich, bar-be-que chips, pickle wedge and a cookie.

The food, when it arrived was better than I expected. The corned beef sandwich gave the right amount of crunch with the toasted bread. The meat was warm and the vegetables were cleanly sliced. The tuna sandwich I ordered tasted fine. The meat itself was a little soggy and the sandwich was overstuffed. I had to resort to a fork to finish off the meat that continually fell from the bread.

Before leaving, I made sure to try their banana pudding. I took one bite and was completely sold. Of course, I do enjoy a good banana pudding, so if you can get passed some of the eccentricities of this place, then I think you'll be fine.

Other things you'll have to look passed include: no restroom facilities other than what the gas station provides, so be prepared to ask for a key and walk around the back of the building. Also worth noting is the lack of seating (they're are only 3 tables and 8 chairs total) and the shortage of parking places.

So if you can handle a few inconveniences, then I highly recommend giving Marylin's Fine Food a try.
